Plan your day

“Suppose I gave you the next 5 minutes to decide what you want to do for the next 24 hours. Now, let us make the assumption that you will live on earth for about 75 years. That 75 years compared to eternity is like the 5 minutes you take to plan your day.”

Read the above again. Read it again, and then let it slowly sink in…you need to be sure that this is for real. Eternity is forever. Any planning you do or don’t do where your life is concerned will affect how you are going to spend eternity. When one considers this very thought seriously – and who dares to ignore this point  – there is no reason to be careless or to be lukewarm.

How often do we realise that we are not going to be on earth forever? How  often do we realise the implications of our thoughts, our actions, our words? This is truly not something to trifle with. It is like what we may term as Make it or Break it. Are we going to make it? We can if we begin to plan our lives with greater care.

Of course, we cannot control some things and we are in no position to control the way some things turn out. What we are saying is that we must do the essential. It would be so helpful if we can begin to do what is within our control or lies  within our jurisdiction. We surely are going to be held accountable. St Paul said it so many times and we know that holy scriptures tell the truth. Whether we like it or  not, we are going to have to answer for the way we have taken care of all that has been entrusted to us, and to sum it all up, it simply means: How am I living this one life of mine? At the end of my life’s journey, what fruit would I have to show?

Only one is needed – LOVE- but are we nurturing it so that God is glorified?

“Suppose I gave you the next 5 minutes to decide what you want to do for the next 24 hours. Now, let us make the assumption that you will live on earth for about 75 years. That 75 years compared to eternity is like the 5 minutes you take to plan your day.”

This ought to set us thinking and planning, I pray.

Wonderful Spirit of God, be our guide.

Be our comfort and be our helper.

We place our plans in your hands.

Amen.
