Some reflections were made during our recent day of recollection with some youths. We had our individual potatoes and as we were invited to hold ours in our hands and to reflect on the gift of FAITH, several thoughts came to my mind. Gazing at my round potato, I noticed how unattractive it looked. There were marks on it. Its surface was far from smooth. Yet, having been acquainted with the potato through my senses of sight, smell and touch, I was certain that there was more than met the eye. Like FAITH, one cannot just judge by what one sees on the outside. That is too simplistic, too superficial. Our FAITH is seen and also unseen. FAITH can be seen in the way one lives the Christian values and ideals, and in one’s belief in God, the Truth. Yet, in the final analysis, only God alone knows the kind of FAITH we really have. When that time comes, even our superficial acts of piety or outward show will be stripped bare, and then will God alone know if we have really lived our FAITH in Him.
So how has God spoken to me in this movie? TRUST. Proverbs 3:5 comes straight to mind. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path. Without FAITH no one can please God.
