Here we are in the joyful glorious season of Easter. And this Easter is like no other. We have all been thrilled by the recent happenings in the Church – the canonisation of two great Catholic figures. We now have St John XXIII and St John Paul II the Great! Alleluia! Alleluia!
A couple of my friends went to join the multitudes in Rome to celebrate the addition of these two new saints. At the same time, I can rejoice at the canonisation of an Ursuline nun in April 2014. She is St Marie of the Incarnation. Praise the Lord!
What about us? We are still on the journey. We can be joyful. We can say: Pray for us, O Mary! Pray for us, St Joseph! It is the Feast of St Joseph the Worker today. And we can call on the powerful intercession of all the saints in heaven. Not all have been canonised. But all who are in heaven are saints, and that too is our calling. May we continue to grow in our love for the Lord and for his people.
When the saints go marching in, dear Lord, we want to be counted! Alleluia!
