The humble onion has lessons to teach me. At a recent writing workshop, we were given a choice to either do it individually or with a couple of others. I had planned to take a huge onion and to do the peeling on my own.
But it did not materialise. Two of the participants came to where I was sitting and in a very matter of fact voice, they announced that they were coming to watch me do my work. Just fancy that!
Of course, I shared my onion. In the end we had a meaningful session.
The onion was peeled, and as the time went by, we started to pray and to write. . . .
