Walk by faith, not by sight

DB_DSC7174 Presenting Our Lady of Guadaloupe

Blessed are those who do not see and yet believe

These are the words of our Blessed Lord Jesus to Thomas and all the apostles present

That lovely day after His Resurrection in the room where He had appeared

Our Lord invited Thomas to touch Him and to know that truly He is the Risen Lord

Thomas had not seen our Lord when He had appeared on a previous occasion

And had refused to believe

Our Lord says to all

Blessed are those who do not see and yet believe

MY LORD and MY GOD!

Here in this painting one sees Juan Diego

And many present in Guadalupe at a moment in time

So wonderful, so glorious and so amazingly beautiful

A sign to show that our Lady of Guadalupe had indeed spoken

A request that needed to be fulfilled

A basilica to be built for the people

But poor peasant and most faithful Catholic

Unable to convince the church authorities needed a sign

And a sign was given to Juan Diego

Roses galore and the image

Now world famous

Now still in existence

Now a sign for pro-life and anti-abortion

Lo and behold, the image remains

And so do we still adhere to this saying of our Lord

Blessed are those who do not see and yet believe

Truly there are believers and there are believers

May we be those who do not need to see

We can believe in Truth

and we must in order to follow the Way and the Life!
